Situation:
You want to connect to a pcAnywhere host that is using a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) or Cable Internet provided by the same Internet Service Provider (ISP) as you are using. When you try to connect, the connection times out.
Solution:
Some DSL and cable providers specifically disallow the use of remote control software within their network, as this is deemed a security risk This has been confirmed as a concern with Pacbell and may be the case with others ISPs as well. Please contact the ISP to confirm that this is the problem.
