Multicast slows down or times-out when using Cisco switches

Question/Issue:
When using Ghost Multicast Server, GhostCast Server, or Ghost Console to send an image across your network, Ghost slows down or times-out. You may get varying error messages. This occurs on a Cisco switch with IOS version 11.2(8)SA2.

Solution:
This appears to be a known problem with specific Cisco switches. To resolve the problem, upgrade your IOS to version 11.2(8)SA5 or later.

If the problem is not resolved by upgrading the router version and the problem exists with Symantec Ghost 7.5 but not with Symantec Ghost 7.0, then reducing the Time to Live (TTL) value might resolve the problem. GhostCast Server provides two ways to reduce the TTL value.
