Use the UnErase Wizard |
|
|
- 1
- On the desktop, double-click the Norton Protected Recycle Bin icon.
One of the following screens appears:
- Recently Deleted Files
- All Protected Files on this Computer
- Deleted Files Matching Your Criteria
- Welcome to the UnErase Wizard
If the "Welcome to the UnErase Wizard" screen does not appear, click Back. The "Welcome to the UnErase Wizard" screen should now appear. |
- 2
- Select one of the following options:
- Find recently deleted files
It is best to try this first. This option searches for the last 25 files that were deleted, regardless of whether they were protected by the Norton Protected Recycle Bin or the Windows Recycle Bin.
- Find all protected files on local drives
This option searches for all files protected by the Recycle Bin or by Norton Protection. It does not search for files that are not protected (that is, files that are not in the Windows Recycle Bin, nor in the Norton Protected Recycle Bin). Files in the Norton Protected Recycle Bin are files you normally cannot recover from the Recycle Bin, such as overwritten files or files deleted from a DOS dialog box.
- Find any recoverable files matching your criteria
This option searches for all files protected by the Recycle Bin or by Norton Protection, plus files not protected by either bin. The search is based on criteria you select, which could include the file name, file type, file location, or file contents. This option also allows you to search for unrecoverable files, unprotected files whose data may still be located in unused disk space. |

- Follow the prompts.
If you chose "Find recently deleted files" or "Find all protected files on local drives" and you could not find the deleted file, repeat the previous steps, but select "Find any recoverable files matching your criteria." | |
