Enabling or disabling Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall

Use the following instructions to turn off Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall. If you turn off Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall in Windows Task Manager or the Services UI, you must restart the computer to correctly turn them on again.


 

 I use Norton Internet Security

STEP 1
   Log on using the Supervisor account

Start Norton Internet Security.

In the Norton Internet Security window, in the left pane, click User Accounts.

The account that you are logged on as is displayed after "you are logged on as:"
  • If you are logged on as Supervisor, go to "To turn on or turn off Norton Internet Security."
  • If you are not logged on as Supervisor, go to line 4 of this STEP.

Click Log Off.

In the Confirm dialog box, click Yes.

Click Log On.

In the Log on dialog box, in the Account Name list, click Supervisor.

In the Password field, type your password.
 If you have never assigned a password to the Supervisor account, leave this field blank.

Click OK.
 You should see the text "You are logged on as: Supervisor."
STEP 2
   Turn on or turn off Norton Internet Security

Start Norton Internet Security.

In the left pane, click Status & Settings.

Click Security.

Click Turn on or Turn off. 

 I use Norton Personal Firewall

            
   Turn on or turn off Norton Personal Firewall

Start Norton Personal Firewall.

In the left pane, click Status & Settings.

Click Security.

Click Turn on or Turn off.
