Remove or repair a detected threat or Security risk
		1 Search for the name of the threat or security risk on the Symantec Security Response Virus Encyclopedia Web site. Once you have located the document on the threat, check the "removal instructions" section to see if there is a removal tool. Do the following, depending on whether there is a removal tool available:    If there is a removal tool available, then download and run the tool to remove the threat. When the threat is removed, install Norton AntiVirus. Afterwords, restart the computer.  If there is no removal tool and if the write-up does not indicate that the threat or security risk will interfere with the installation of Norton AntiVirus, then install Norton AntiVirus. Afterwords, restart the computer.  If there is no removal tool and the write-up indicates that the threat or security risk will interfere with the installation of Norton AntiVirus, then follow the manual removal instructions in the write-up to remove the threat. When the threat or security risk is removed, install Norton AntiVirus.  Afterwords, restart the computer. (If you have Windows 98/Me and you are running Norton AntiVirus 2004 or earlier, then you can create Rescue Disks on an uninfected computer and scan the infected computer. See the section "To remove a threat using the Rescue Disks (Windows 98/Me)" in Technical Information at the end of this document.) 2 Once Norton AntiVirus is installed, run a full system scan.
