How to integrate WinFax PRO 10.02 and Outlook 2002 on a limited basis

Situation:
You want to know how to integrate WinFax PRO 10.02 with Outlook 2002.

Solution:

Section 1: How to integrate Outlook XP with WinFax 10.02 on a limited basis
This section describe a workaround for the WinFax 10.02\Outlook XP integration and MAPI error issue. This workaround may not be appropriate for all users. In implementing it, you will not be able to link and view the Outlook 2002 logs in the WinFax Message Manager. You can, however, enable the WinFax logs and services in Outlook XP, and then use Outlook with the Email option in WinFax to link a contact database for use in WinFax 10.02. To use the workaround, complete the following steps exactly as described.

Note: You will not be able to select the option to Enable viewing of Exchange\Outlook logs and address books in WinFax Message Manager. This will result in MAPI and program errors.

To disable Exchange\Outlook Integration in WinFax Program Setup
  1. In the WinFax PRO Message Manager, click Tools, and then click Program Setup.
  2. Double-click Email and Outlook Integration.
  3. Uncheck Enable sending faxes by email.
  4. Click OK, and then click Close.
  5. Close the Message Manager and the WinFax Controller.

To check and edit the MAPISVC.INF file
  1. Close Outlook and all open applications. Stop the WinFax service if you are running Win NT, 2000 or XP.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
  3. From the Look In drop-down list, select the drive to which WinFax PRO is installed.
  4. Check Include subfolders (if not already checked).
  5. In the Named field, type mapisvc.inf and click Find Now. Windows displays all files that match the search criteria.
  6. Double-click the mapisvc.inf file name. This step opens the file in Notepad.
    1. Add the following [WINFAX] section:

      [WINFAX]
      PR_DISPLAY_NAME=WinFax PRO
      PR_SERVICE_DLL_NAME=DCCWFP.DLL
      PR_SERVICE_ENTRY_NAME=ServiceEntry
      Providers=DCCMSP
      PR_SERVICE_SUPPORT_FILES=DCCMSP.DLL
      PR_RESOURCE_FLAGS=SERVICE_SINGLE_COPY|SERVICE_NO_PRIMARY_IDENTITY
      WIZARD_ENTRY_NAME=WizardEntry
    2. Add the following [DCCMSP] section:

      [DCCMSP]
      PR_PROVIDER_DLL_NAME=DCCMSP.DLL
      PR_RESOURCE_TYPE=MAPI_STORE_PROVIDER
      PR_DISPLAY_NAME=WinFax Fax Logs
      PR_PROVIDER_DISPLAY=WinFax Fax Logs
      PR_MDB_PROVIDER=90CA020000000000C000000000000046
      PR_RESOURCE_FLAGS=STATUS_NO_DEFAULT_STORE
    3. Add the following line in the [SERVICES] section:

      WINFAX=WinFax PRO
  7. Save the changes and close Notepad.
  8. If you are not running Windows 2000, then right-click the Mapisvc.inf file in the Find window, and click Install.
    The file will be installed. If you are running Windows 2000, do not install this file; if you install the file in Windows 2000, you will get an "Install Failed" error message.
  9. Close all open programs, shut down the computer, and restart the computer. This step enables the changes to take effect.

To reconfigure WinFax services in Outlook 2002
The WinFax logs do not appear on the Outlook Shortcuts bar. You need to have the Folder List enabled in Outlook to access the WinFax Message Stores. To do this in Outlook XP, click View, and then click Folder List.
  1. Start Outlook 2002 and select Tools from the Toolbar Menu.
  2. Choose Options from the menu.
  3. Select the Mail Setup tab.
  4. Select the Data Files button and highlight the WinFax Fax Logs item.
    If you do not see the WinFax Logs in the Select Data files dialog box, click on the Add button and then select WinFax PRO. Click OK, and then click close. WinFax logs will be added to Outlook.
  5. Select the Settings button. You should see a dialog box that says, "The WinFax Logs Provider is now fully configured and ready for use." Click OK, and then Close.
  6. Select the Other tab and choose the Advanced Options button.
  7. Select the Add-in Manager button and make sure that the DCCExtensions box is checked. If the DCCExtensions item is not available, select the Install Button, then continue with step 9.
  8. Highlight the DCCExtensions item, then click on the Install button.
  9. Select the AWFEXT.ECF, click in the Open button, then repeat the same steps and select the FAXEXT.ECF files. Click Open, and then click the OK button in the Add-In Manager dialog box.
  10. Choose OK in the Advanced Options box and then click OK again to close the Options box.
  11. Close Outlook 2002.
  12. Reopen Outlook 2002 and make sure that all WinFax logs and add-ins are installed.

If you have further problems or errors after doing the above, copy the wfoladin.dll to the Microsoft Office\Office 10\AddIns folder:
  1. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
  2. From the Look In drop-down list, select the drive on which you installed WinFax PRO.
  3. Check Include subfolders (if not already checked).
  4. In the Named field, type wfoladin.dll and click Find Now. Windows displays all files matching the search criteria.
  5. Highlight the file when found, right-click and choose Copy, browse to the Microsoft Office\Office10\Add-ins folder, right-click on the Add-Ins folder and choose Paste.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. Reconfigure the WinFax service in Outlook XP as detailed above.

To run the WinFax program setup to reconfigure the Outlook XP email option in WinFax PRO 10.02
  1. Close Outlook 2002, WinFax, the Controller, all other open applications and stop the WinFax PRO service if you are running Win NT, 2000 or XP.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
  3. From the Look In drop-down list, select the drive on which you installed WinFax PRO.
  4. Check Include subfolders (if not already checked). In the Named field, type wtnsetup.exe and click Find Now. Windows displays all files matching the search criteria.
  5. Double-click the resulting file. The WinFax configuration wizard will start. Follow the prompts through reconfiguring WinFax PRO.
    • In the email option window, check the "Enable sending faxes by email" box, select Microsoft Exchange\Outlook as the email option, and click the Logon Options button to select your email logon options.
    • Do not select the option to Enable viewing of Exchange\Outlook logs and address books in Message Manager. This will result in mapi and program errors.
    • Continue through the setup Wizard to completion, do not choose to run the Live Update, and select skip in the registration window.
  6. Start the WinFax Message Manager. You should now be able to use your contact database with WinFax and send a fax via email.

  9. Restart the computer, and test to see whether the problem is fixed.

If the problems persists, uninstall and reinstall WinFax
  1. Completely remove WinFax from the system:
  2. Restart the computer and install WinFax. When prompted, choose to not integrate Outlook 2002 with WinFax.
