Question/Issue:
You have purchased Symantec Endpoint Protection, and you want to know if the client can be installed on the Macintosh computers in your environment, and if those clients can be managed by the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
Solution:
Symantec Endpoint Protection cannot currently be installed on or managed by computers running on non-Windows operating systems. Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x, due in April, 2010, will support and be able to manage Macintosh computers.
For the interim, Macintosh computers need to be protected with a different product, Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition for Macintosh (SAV for Mac), intended for use with Macintosh computers and managed with its own management console. SAV for Mac currently supports operating system versions 10.4.11 through 10.5.x. See References for more information.

Will I be able to use the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to manage other Symantec products in the future?
Yes. The ultimate goal is to have the Symantec Endpoint manage all Symantec endpoint technologies/products, which includes: Data Leakage Protection, Critical System Protection, Symantec AntiVirus for Linux, and Macintosh. Refer to the Symantec Endpoint Security Web Portal for updates to the roadmap.
