"Windows XP is disabling the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching..." when installing pcAnywhere 10.5 under Windows XP

Situation:
When pcAnywhere 10.5 is installed, a dialog box appears stating that "Windows XP is disabling the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching due to installation of an application that supports advanced networking features." You want to know whether there is a way to restore the Welcome Screen and Fast User Switching.

Solution:
Symantec released a LiveUpdate that solves this problem. Run LiveUpdate to retrieve the latest update to pcAnywhere 10.5.

To run LiveUpdate, click Help, then click LiveUpdate. Follow the prompts to complete the LiveUpdate.

This update is also available as a downloadable patch file. Go to ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/pcanywhere/pcanywhere32/ver10.5/updates/ and download the 1051up.exe file.

To install the patch, simply double-click the 1051up.exe file.

If you previously used a workaround that was provided by Symantec to re-enable the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching, and if they no longer work after running the LiveUpdate, then see the document Welcome screen and Fast User Switching do not return after running LiveUpdate.
