This is a software engineering position within Symantec's Managed Security Services development team. The primary focus of this position will be working on a team to design and create the software to run the Symantec MSS operations center.
The MSS architecture is a massively distributed system that consists of hundreds of servers and software components. The development environment includes, but is not limited to:
- Cross-platform C++ development in Linux, Solaris, IPSO, and Windows
- Load Balanced Windows 2000 Services using C++ and C#
- Heavy database design and interaction using MS SQL Server 2000
- Complex algorithms using T-SQL in MS SQL Server 2000
- Optimized User Interface Design and Application building using C#
- Web Services development for both internal and external applications
- Intuitive Web Portal design using Windows Server 2003 and IIS, programming in ASP.NET and C#.
Pervading all aspects of development is in depth knowledge of market-leading security products, familiarity with latest virus and worm threats, and experience with TCP/IP and other network protocols. The supported security products include the top selling vendors in the industry include: Symantec, Cisco, ISS and many more.
Primary emphasis on using C# or C++ to write software for a 24x7 uptime production environment. Threading, Memory management techniques, knowledge of the CLR important. In addition, heavy T-SQL programming knowledge is expected and required.
Position requires experience in database schema design and solid programming skills. |

| Requirements : |
Required Education: BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
'Must have' technologies to meet minimum requirements:
1. 6+ years developing software for Windows OS
2. 6+ years using C/C++
3. 4+ years using C#
4. 4+ years developing web-based applications
5. 4+ yrs Relational database development & design experience
6. 3+ yrs TSQL programming experience on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 databases
7. Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL server trouble-shooting methodologies and experience with database configuration management tools

Additional desired, but not mandatory experience:
1. 4+ years developing ASP.NET web applications
