Configuring Windows 98 to clean boot

STEP 1

Because you must return to this page after you restart the computer, add this page to Favorites. 

STEP 2
  Clean boot Windows 98 with Selective Startup

Click Start > Run.

In the Run dialog box, type the following text:
msconfig

Click OK.

When the System Configuration Utility appears, click Selective Startup.
 Below it are several processing options. Clear them all.

Click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
NOTE Note When you have completed your troubleshooting, go to STEP 3 to configure Windows to perform Normal startup.
STEP 3
  Configure Windows 98 to perform Normal startup

Click Start > Run.

In the Run dialog box, type the following text:
msconfig

Click OK.
When the System Configuration Utility appears, click Normal Startup.
Click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the system, click Yes.
