Error: "9999,171 The installation encountered an error and is unable to continue" when installing your Norton program
Norton SystemWorks installation has detected that your boot drive has a Dynamic Disk Overlay (DDO) or that your drive was set to Dynamic Disk. GoBack which is a part of Norton SystemWorks is not compatible with Dynamic Disk Overlay (DDO) or Dynamic Disks, and you cannot install GoBack on a computer that uses a Dynamic Disk.
To continue the installation of Norton SystemWorks, you need to install Norton SystemWorks without GoBack.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool |

The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2008/2007/2006/2005/2004/2003 products and Norton 360 from your computer. Before you continue, make sure that you have the installation CDs or downloaded installation files for any Norton products that you want to reinstall. Also, if you use ACT! or WinFAX, back up those databases and uninstall those products. |

- Download the Norton Removal Tool for your version of Windows.
- Save the file to the Windows desktop.

- On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal tool icon.

- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.

Install Norton SystemWorks without GoBack |

- Do one of the following:
- Insert the CD into the drive.
- If you downloaded Norton SystemWorks 2006 from the Symantec Store, double-click the Setup.exe icon.

- In the opening panel of the installation wizard, click Install Norton SystemWorks to begin the installation.

- Read the License Agreement, and then click I accept the License Agreement.
- Type the product key. The product key is required only if Norton SystemWorks is installed from the CD.
If you do not accept the License Agreement, the installation process stops. |

- Click Next.
The preinstall scan begins automatically and takes a few minutes.
If the Active Applications Detected panel appears, exit all programs, and then click Start Scan. After the scan begins, do one of the following:
- To stop the scan, click Stop Scan.
- When the scan is finished, click View Details to view the results of the scan, and then click OK.

- In the Select the installation type panel, select the type of installation that you want, and then select the folder in which to install Norton SystemWorks.
Select Custom install and uncheck Norton GoBack. You cannot install Norton GoBack when Dynamic Disk Overlay (DDO) is found on your computer. |

- Click Next.
The Previous Version(s) Detected panel appears if the installation detects a conflict with other Symantec products. |

- Click Finish to restart the computer.
The computer is not protected until it restarts and you complete the configuration. |

- After the computer restarts, wait for the Norton SystemWorks window to open on your desktop.
