Removing all Symantec programs for Macintosh by using the RemoveSymantecMacFiles removal utility

Use the RemoveSymantecMacFiles utility to remove all versions of Symantec products for Mac OS X. This utility should be used only when there is a problem that requires the complete removal of all Symantec products for Mac OS X.

Note |
- To run RemoveSymantecMacFiles, you must know your Mac OS X administrator password.
- RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all Symantec Mac OS X files from the Mac OS X boot volume. These files include invisible files, such as Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh QuickScan and Norton FileSaver files.
- RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all beta versions of Symantec products.
- RemoveSymantecMacFiles is provided for your convenience only and is not a supported utility.

RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all folders created by Norton installers and any files within those folders. You will lose all files that reside in those folders, including any that you have created.

Download and run RemoveSymantecMacFiles |

- Download RemoveSymantecMacFiles.zip. DOWNLOAD

- 2
- Double-click the RemoveSymantecMacFiles.zip file that you downloaded.
- The file is expanded.

- Open the RemoveSymantecMacFiles folder.
|
- 4
- Double-click the RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command file.
|
- 5
- Type your Mac OS X administrator password, and then press return.
- When you type your password, no characters appear.

- 6
- Do one of the following:

- To remove all Symantec files and folders, type 1
- To quit RemoveSymantecMacFiles without removing any files, type 2

- 7
- Press return.
- RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all of the Symantec files

- 8
- On the Terminal menu, click Quit Terminal.
