A virus scan does not run at the scheduled time

STEP 2
  Select your Norton product version
I have Norton AntiVirus 2005
STEP 1
  Remove a virus scan in Norton AntiVirus
1
Start Norton AntiVirus.
 If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.

In the left pane, click Norton AntiVirus if it is listed.
 If it is not listed, go on to the next step.

In the left pane, click Scan for Viruses.

In the right pane, click the icon to the right of Scan my computer.

On the Schedule tab, check Show multiple schedules in the lower left corner of the screen.

Click the arrow beside the top text box, and then choose the scan that you want to remove.
7
Click Delete.
STEP 2
  Create a custom scan for Norton AntiVirus
1
Start Norton AntiVirus.
 If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton Internet Security or Norton SystemWorks, then start that program.

In the left pane, click Norton AntiVirus if it is listed.
 If it is not listed, go on to the next line.

In the left pane, click Scan for Viruses or Scan Now.

In the right pane, click Create Custom Scan.

In the Norton AntiVirus Scan Wizard, click Next.

Click the Add folders or Add files, and then add those items to your custom scan.
7
After you finish adding the items that you want to scan, click Next.
8
Type a name for the custom scan, and then click Finish.
STEP 3
  Schedule a scan for Norton AntiVirus
1
Start Norton AntiVirus.
 If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton Internet Security or Norton SystemWorks, then start that program.

In the left pane, click Norton AntiVirus if it is listed.
 If it is not listed, go on to the next line.

In the left pane, click Scan for Viruses or Scan Now.

In the right pane, click the first icon to the right of the custom scan that you want to schedule.
5
Click New, and then fill in the Schedule Task, Start time, and Schedule Task yourtask fields.
6
Click OK.
I have Norton AntiVirus 2004
STEP 1
  Remove a virus scan in Norton AntiVirus
1
Start Norton AntiVirus.
 If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.

In the left pane, click Norton AntiVirus if it is listed.
 If it is not listed, go on to the next step.

In the left pane, click Scan for Viruses.

In the right pane, to the right of Scan my computer, click the icon under Task Schedule.

On the Schedule tab, check Show multiple schedules in the lower left corner of the screen.

Click the arrow beside the top text box, and then choose the scan that you want to remove.
7
Click Delete.
STEP 2

Under Actions, click New.

In the Norton AntiVirus Scan Wizard, click Next.

Fill in the Schedule Task, Start time, and Schedule Task yourtask fields.

Click OK.
I have Norton AntiVirus 2003
STEP 1

Start Norton AntiVirus.
 If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.

STEP 3

 If it is not listed, go on to the next line.

In the right pane, select the custom scan that you want to schedule.

Under the section headed Schedule Task, click Schedule.

Fill in the Schedule Task, Start time, and Schedule Task yourtask fields.

Click OK.
STEP 3
  Make sure that the date in the Task Scheduler entry is configured correctly
1
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks.

Right-click the Norton AntiVirus virus scan entry, and then click Properties.

On the Schedule tab, click the Advanced button.
4
If the Start Date is set to a future date, then change it to the current date.
5
Click OK to close the Windows Scheduled Tasks utility.
