Clean boot Windows XP with a Selective Startup |

- In the Run dialog box, type following text:

- When the System Configuration Utility appears, click the General tab.
- Under Selective Startup, make sure that "Load System Services" is the only item checked.
(You will be unable to unselect "Use Original BOOT.INI." This is OK). |

- Click the Services tab.

- Select Hide all Microsoft Services.

- Uncheck all the services that are still displayed on the Services tab.

- Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart the computer.
|
- 10
- Complete any troubleshooting or product installation.

Restore your computer to its original settings |

- In Run dialog box, type following text:

- When the System Configuration Utility appears, on the General tab, click Normal Startup.

- Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart the computer.
