Situation:
This page describes how to download and install the Symantec Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Alert Notification Limited Denial of Service Update.

Solution:
This update addresses a very small risk that an attacker could cause the product's icon to be temporarily removed from the system tray. For more information, go to the Symantec Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Alert Notification Limited Denial of Service Web page.

To download and install the update

1. Download the Norton AntiVirus 2005 Auto-Protect Alert Notification Update and save it to the Windows desktop. This downloads the file Patch1.exe (you may not see the .exe extension displayed) to the Windows desktop.
2. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Patch1.exe file.
3. When the WinZip Self-Extractor - Patch1.exe dialog box appears. Click Setup as shown in the following illustration.
   
   
   
   
   This installs the update and closes the dialog box.
