The AutoFix Tool has found that Symantec software is running in Compatibility Mode
Situation:
The AutoFix Tool has found that Symantec software has been set to run in Compatibility Mode. (This is a special Windows® XP mode that allows you to run older software.)
Symantec software that is designed to run on Windows XP should not be set to run in Compatibility Mode, as will not function properly in that mode.
Solution:
To make sure that Symantec software is not set to run in Compatibility Mode and to fix this problem if it exists, you must edit the registry.
You can do this automatically or manually.

To edit the registry
- Exit all programs.
- On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type the following:
regedit
- Click OK.
- Go to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
If this key does not exist, skip to step 8.
- In the right pane, select any values that contain the words "Norton" or "Symantec" in the name. (See the picture that follows.)
- For each one that you find, press Delete, and click Yes to confirm the deletion.
- Go to the following registry key:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers.
If this key does not exist, skip to step 11.
- In the right pane, select any values that contain the words "Norton" or "Symantec" in the name. (See the picture that follows.)
- For each one that you find, press Delete and click Yes to confirm the deletion.
- Exit the Registry Editor.
