Email scanning stops after running successfully for a number of hours

Situation:
You installed Norton AntiVirus (NAV), and email scanning is enabled. Email scanning works correctly for a few hours, and then fails to check your email. When you choose the Email entry in NAV Options, you see that email scanning is still enabled. If you disable and then reenable email scanning, then the problem is fixed. However, the problem happens again a few hours later.

Solution:
This problem should be fixed with the latest Symantec Redirector program update. To install the update, run LiveUpdate, download all available program updates, and then restart the computer when prompted.

Run LiveUpdate until you see the message "Thank you for using LiveUpdate. All of the Symantec products installed on your computer are currently up to date. Please check for new updates again in the future."

NOTE: For more information on the Symantec Redirector files, see the document What is the Symantec Redirector?

If you are using Outlook 2002 and updating NAV does not fix the problem, then we have had reports that updating to Outlook 2002, Service Pack 2 has fixed the problem.
