Error: "The NetBT service depends on the following nonexistent service: SYMTDI" after uninstalling Norton AntiVirus

Situation:
You have just uninstalled Norton AntiVirus 2002 (NAV) and you see the following error in the Event Viewer when restarting the computer: "The NetBT service depends on the following nonexistent service: SYMTDI." You also notice that NetBT is disabled.

Solution:
This Event Viewer error indicates that the NAV Email Scanning drivers have been removed from your computer, but the dependencies for the NetBT service in your registry have not been properly replaced. This can happen if the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) was not able to restore the registry key to its original state.

To fix this problem, run the Rnav.exe removal utility and restart the computer.

To uninstall NAV by using the Rnav.exe removal utility:
Symantec has created a removal utility named Rnav.exe to help with the uninstallation. Follow the instructions in How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus using the Rnav.exe removal utility to download and run the Rnav.exe removal utility.
