Error: "Norton AntiVirus has encountered an internal program error. Uninstall and re-install LiveUpdate." (3005, 598)

Situation:

During the installation of Norton AntiVirus, either the stand-alone version or as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, you see the following message: "Norton AntiVirus has encountered an internal program error. Uninstall and re-install LiveUpdate." In the lower-left corner of the error message, you see the numbers 3005, 598. This error can also happen when you click Options after the program is installed.

Solution:

This solution requires that you use Internet Explorer. If this page is open in any other Web browser, open it in Internet Explorer.     Download and install the latest version of LiveUpdate Run a tool to install the latest version of LiveUpdate. RUN IT NOW
