Error: "EBAB001A: Cannot read data from drive. An unknown exception has occurred."
Situation:
When you try to save an image to a SAN drive, save an image to removable media, or restore an image from the Recovery Environment, you see an error message. The error message varies and may be reported as one of the following:
"Error EBAB001A: An unknown exception has occurred (0xEBAB001A)"
"Error EBAB001A: Cannot read data from drive. An unknown exception has occurred."
"Error EBAB001A: Backup of C:\did not complete successfully. Cannot read data from the drive."
Solution:
Note: If you are seeing this error message while using Symantec LiveState Recovery, contact Symantec Technical Support to obtain an updated version.
Try the following solutions:
- Unplug any unused USB removable media drives.
- Insert media into all removable media devices (including flash memory readers, USB removable media drives, and so forth), and then try the imaging operation again.
- If an error occurs with SAN connected, check for missing SAN volumes. Disk Management may show an old or missing volume, which may or may not show up in a partition information file. If an old or missing volume is listed but no longer exists, remove the volume.
- If you are using Samba shares be sure you have the basic rights on the Samba.
- If you are saving the backup image to NAS, check the operating system that is installed; there may be an issue with Linux or with proprietary operating system NAS devices.
- Stop and restart the Symantec LiveState Recovery or V2i Protector service.
