Error: 'E7C3000F: Backup of C:\ did not complete successfully' when creating an image with Drive Image 7.0 or Symantec LiveState Recovery

Situation:
As you create an image by using Drive Image 7.0 or Symantec LiveState Recovery, you see one or more of the following error messages:

- Backup of C:\ did not complete successfully. Error E73000F
- Device \\/\PQV2iSnapShotO cannot read 2,048 sectors starting at LBA 0
- Error 0000045D: The request could not be performed because of an I./O device error. (0xE7C3000F).

Solution:


Before you begin: If you use Symantec LiveState Recovery 3.0, an update to version 3.03 may solve the problem. To obtain the latest version of Symantec LiveState Recovery 3.03, contact Symantec Technical Support.

To fix this problem, download an updated VProSme.dll file and replace the existing VProSme.dll file.

To replace VProSme.dll
  1. Stop the Drive Image 7 or Symantec LiveState Recovery service,
  2. Download VProSme.zip to your computer.
  3. Expand the VProSme.zip file.
  4. Replace the existing VProSme.dll file with the downloaded version.
    The default folder locations of VProSme.dll are as follows:
               
    LiveState Recovery Advanced ServerC:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveState Recovery
    \Advanced Server 3.0\Agent
    LiveState Recovery Standard ServerC:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveState Recovery
    \Standard Server 3.0\Agent
    LiveState Recovery DesktopC:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveState Recovery
    \Desktop 3.0\Agent
    Drive Image 7.0C:\Program Files\Symantec\Norton Ghost\Agent
         
               
  5. Restart the Drive Image 7.0 or Symantec LiveState Recovery service.
