Restoring from a recovery point that is spanned on multiple CDs or DVDs

Situation:
Your backup image or files are saved to multiple CDs or DVDs. You want to know how to restore the image or files from the multiple CDs or DVDs.

Solution:
To recover an image that is spanned across multiple CDs or DVDs, you must use the Symantec Recovery Disk to start the computer. Then you can restore the backup while you are in the recovery environment.

Start your computer using the Symantec Recovery Disk

If you plan to use a USB device while you are running the recovery environment, attach the device.

Insert the product CD into the media drive of the computer.
If Norton Save & Restore/Norton Ghost was already installed when you bought your computer, the recovery environment is likely on your computer's hard drive.

Restart the computer.
If you cannot start the computer from the CD, you might need to configure your computer to do so.
See "Getting your computer to start from the CD."

As soon as you see the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD," press a key to start the recovery environment.

Read the license agreement, and then click Accept.
If you decline, you cannot start the recovery environment and your computer will restart.

Restore from a recovery point that is spanned on multiple CDs or DVDs

On the Symantec Recovery Disk window, in the left pane, click Home.

Click Recover My Computer.

Click Open another location.

Click My Computer.

Select your CD or DVD drive from the list.

6 Click OK.
When you restore from the CD or DVD, you are prompted to insert the first CD or DVD, followed by the last CD or DVD, the first CD or DVD, the last CD or DVD, then the first CD or DVD again. The restore process then begins and prompts you for the media in sequence. After restoring a recovery point, you will be prompted again to insert the first CD or DVD one more time. For example, if you had a recovery point that spanned across five CDs or DVDs, the order you would insert the CDs or DVDs would be as follows: 1-5-1-5-1-2-3-4-5-1.
