How to configure a host item to call back a remote, once the remote has established a connection
Situation:
This document describes how to have a pcAnywhere host call a remote back after the remote makes the initial connection.
Solution:
To configure a host to call back a remote, please follow these steps on the host computer:
- In the pcAnywhere Manager, click Hosts.
- Right-click the host item that you want to configure for the callback, and click Properties.
- On the Connection Info tab, make sure the only connection item selected for this host is the modem.
- Click the Callers tab.
- If there are no callers configured for this item, create one.
- Double-click the caller you want to host to call back. This opens the caller properties.
- Click the Callback tab, and check the "Callback the remote user" option.
- In the Phone number field, type the phone number that the host is to call to make the connection.
NOTE: If you leave the phone number blank, the remote user will be prompted to enter it once the initial connection is made from the remote.
- Click OK to save the changes to the caller, and click OK again to return to the pcAnywhere Manager.
Now, when that caller calls in and authenticates, the remote disconnects, and the host calls the remote.
NOTE: The remote automatically waits for the host's call.
