Error messages when launching pcANYWHERE with multiple devices selected
Situation:
You receive error messages when trying to initialize modem as a host. Errors include, but are not limited to:
- Communications error: Direct Connection
- The selected port is not available...
- No Carrier
- No Response from the modem
- Unable to initialize the modem
- No Connection
- A Telephony resource is temporarily...
Solution:
The pcANYWHERE connection item may be set to wait on both the modem device and the modem's COM port.
To check if both the modem and the COM port are selected:
- Right-click the connection item and then click Properties.
- Click the Connection Info tab.
- On the Device list, there may be one or two devices selected.
- If there are two devices selected, verify they are not the modem and the COM port of the modem.
For example, if the modem, Standard modem, is on COM2, and you have both Standard modem and COM2 selected, this could be the cause of the problem.
If you have only one device selected, or Standard modem and IPX, this is probably not the cause of the problem.
If you are not sure if you have conflicting devices selected, uncheck one connection type and launch the pcANYWHERE host again.
