How to obtain pcAnywhere 12.5.0 SP1 (Build 442).

Question/Issue:
pcAnywhere 12.5.0 build 442 also known as 12.5 sp1 has been released and you need to know how to obtain a copy and what is new in this build.

Symptoms:
pcAnywhere 12.5.0 build 442 is a full release and available via Live Update for existing installations or as a full download for new installations. Build 442 can be installed over an existing installation and the option to preserve previous pcAnywhere configuration files can be selected during the installation. Below are the instructions on how to run LiveUpdate to update a current 12.5 build 265 installation to the latest build 442 installation. Also instructions for obtaining New installation files for build 442 for future installations directly to builds 442. The Software Change notice and the latest README.TXT file also are available below.

Note: After installing SP1 build 442 over the top of an existing pcAnywhere installation the Host will need to be re launched manually if no reboot is performed. A host set to launch with Windows will launch normally after the first system reboot.

Live Update
To update an existing installation the LiveUpdate function can be used.

Open pcAnywhere 12.5 build 265
From the Help menu select LiveUpdate
Wait for the download and silent install to finish and then click Close

Note: Depending on the computer and internet connection LiveUpdate may take some time to complete do not click on the cancel button while running live update. Doing so may corrupt the update for pcAnywhere. Once LiveUpdate is completed the Cancel button will change to a Close button and Live update can be closed.

New Install files

The pcAnywhere 12.5.0 serial number will be required to start the download the build 442 installation files. If the serial number is not know for your current 12.5 installation contact Licensing at 1.888.727.8671 to obtain your serial number for download. Once you have obtained your serial number follow the steps below to begin your download.

Navigate to https://fileconnect.symantec.com
Select the appropriate language
At the prompt for Serial Number enter your 12.5 serial number
Select Enter
Read and select I Agree to the EULA
Click on the Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 - Corporate Edition - Multilingual product link
Select HTTP Download or Managed Download and click Select
The pcAnywhere files are available in a Zip file that will contain all of the installation files or in an ISO that can then be burned to CD to install from. Please select the one that is best for your environment and then click the Begin Downloading button.
