Situation:How to completely wipe a system drive using Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 and Windows PE.

Solution:NOTE: If the computer is known to the Console, refer to instructions on erasing the machine as documented in 'Reclaiming a Symantec Ghost client license' available at http://service1.symantec.com/support/on-technology.nsf/docid/2003092608412525?Open&seg=ent

Use a WinPE boot package to diskwipe the hard drive before rebuilding the system. Gdisk is included on the WinPE CD when created through the Ghost Boot Wizard.
  1. Create a WinPE boot disk: "How to make a Windows PE boot package with the Ghost Boot Wizard"
  2. Boot the machine to the WinPE boot package
  3. Quit Ghost
  4. Type "cd \"
  5. Enter
  6. Type "Ghost"
  7. Enter
  8. Type "gdisk32"
  9. Enter
  10. Note which drive is the OS drive.
  11. Type "gdisk32 <drive# from 10 above> /diskwipe"
Example: gdisk32 1 /diskwipe /z
12. Enter
    Ghost will wipe the drive

    Note: please see the 'Switches: GDisk' document listed under References for the use of additional disk wipe arguments.
