How to reset Norton System Doctor

Situation:
This document provides the steps for resetting Norton System Doctor. This procedure is useful when one of the sensors is set incorrectly or the configuration is corrupted.

Solution:
To reset System Doctor:

  1. Close System Doctor.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
  3. Type sysdoc32 /reset and then click OK.
NOTE: There is a space before the slash (/) in the command above.

By resetting Norton System Doctor, you will lose any changes you made to it, since this procedure resets System Doctor to its default sensors and options. To keep any changes you made, either save the System Doctor configuration before the procedure, then restore it each time you run System Doctor, or make the same changes over again after you reset System Doctor.

To save your configuration:
If you added or removed sensors from Norton System Doctor and want to save this configuration, create an *.nsd configuration file, as follows:
  1. Open Norton System Doctor.
  2. Click the File menu, and then click Save Configuration As. The Save As dialog box appears.
  3. Type a name for the configuration, such as SysDocConfig.nsd and then click Save.

To restore the configuration:
  1. Open Norton System Doctor.
  2. Click the File menu, and then click Open Configuration. The Open dialog box appears.
  3. Double-click your configuration file. For example, double-click the SysDocConfig.nsd file.
