Situation:
Windows 98 includes a new utility called the System Configuration Utility. The Startup tab lists programs that start automatically when Windows starts. You see NPROTECT listed there twice.
Solution:
This is normal. When Norton Utilities is installed, NPROTECT (the program that is part of the Norton Protected Recycle Bin) runs from one of two different keys in the registry. Since it is in two places, MSCONFIG lists it twice. NPROTECT checks whether it is already in memory when it loads, so it will not load twice.
