Situation:
Examining your hard drive with Norton Disk Doctor it finds a problem with backup dates in certain files. You click Fix All to have Norton Disk Doctor repair the files, but when you examine again, the same problem is reported with these files. Norton Disk Doctor does not appear to be repairing the files.
Solution:
Norton Disk Doctor may find files with bad backup dates. This appears to be happening frequently after updating to Mac OS X v10.1.5. When you have Disk Doctor fix these files and then examine the disk again, the problem continues to appear. This occurs because when Disk Doctor is checking the backup date of a file, it is actually checking the access date of the file. If the access date of the file is incorrect, Disk Doctor reports instead that the backup dates are incorrect. When Disk Doctor fixes the files, it updates the backup dates for the files, which are not the problem. Since the access dates are still incorrect, the problem will continue to appear.
When Norton Disk Doctor finds files with bad backup dates on a drive, you may continue without fixing these files. When the Problem window appears stating "The files have bad backup dates.," click Continue and Norton Disk Doctor will continue examining your disk. Having incorrect access or backup dates for files will not effect the way the files function.
NOTE: You may choose not to have Disk Doctor check file dates by unchecking Check Dates in the File Check preference in Norton Disk Doctor.
