Download the installer for Auto-Protect preference pane and Symantec QuickMenu
Situation:
You installed Symantec AntiVirus 10 for Macintosh on some client computers and see that the Symantec QuickMenu and Auto-Protect preference pane are missing. You need to have these options available on your client computers.
Solution:
You can download an installer to install the Auto-Protect preference pane and the Symantec QuickMenu.
Download the .zip installer file from the Symantec ftp site. After you download the installer file, perform the following procedure.
To install the Auto-Protect preference pane and Symantec QuickMenu
- Expand the .zip file.
- Double-click Symantec Auto-Protect Prefs Installer.
- Click Continue.
- Click Continue.
- Click Agree.
- Select the drive on which you installed Symantec AntiVirus.
- Click Continue.
- Click Install or Upgrade.
- Type your administrator password, and then click OK.
- When the installation is complete, click Close.
The Symantec QuickMenu is now in the menu bar, and the Auto-Protect preference pane is in the System Preferences.
Note: We recommend that the Auto-Protect preferences and Symantec QuickMenu installer only be used on unmanaged clients. On managed clients with both programs, local changes to Auto-Protect preferences are overwritten by changes deployed by the Symantec Administration Console for Macintosh.
