Symantec product compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4 (code-named Tiger)

Norton Internet Security 3.x, including Norton Personal Firewall 3.x and Norton AntiVirus 9.x, is not compatible with Intel-based Macintosh computers such as the MacBook and MacBook Pro.
If you have an Intel-based Macintosh, you can upgrade to Norton Internet Security 4.0 or Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 11.x, which is compatible with these computers.

Currently, the following products are compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (code-named Tiger):
- Norton AntiVirus 11.x.x for Macintosh (compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.10 or higher)
- Norton Internet Security 4.x for Macintosh (compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher)
- Norton Confidential for Macintosh (compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.6 or higher)
- Norton AntiVirus 10.x.x for Macintosh
- Norton Personal Firewall 3.x for Macintosh
- Symantec AntiVirus 10.x.x for Macintosh (enterprise product)
- Symantec Administration Console for Macintosh 1.0.1 (enterprise product)

Notes |
The original releases of Symantec 2004/2003 products for Macintosh are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.
Norton SystemWorks, and Norton Utilities will not be updated for compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4.
While not supported by Symantec Technical Support, some of the Symantec 2004/2003 products for Macintosh have limited features when installed on Mac OS X 10.4. |

- Norton AntiVirus 9.x starts with no errors.
- Auto-Protect does not work.
- Scan on mount does not work.
- Scheduled scans and manual scans work.
| Norton Personal Firewall 3.x installed on Mac OS X 10.4 |
When you start Norton Personal Firewall 3.0–3.0.2, an error message appears, and the application quits. Version 3.0.3 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4. For compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4, run LiveUpdate to get the latest version.

- When you start Norton Personal Firewall 3.x, an error message appears, and the application quits.
- Norton Privacy Control does not start and displays an alert every time that you restart the computer.

- Norton Utilities 8.x starts, but volumes do not appear.
- FileSaver does not work.
- You can start the computer from the Norton Utilities 8.x CD, but this is not recommended.
The operating system on the CD is Mac OS X 10.3.
- Errors may appear when scanning disks.

- Norton SystemWorks 3.x will start.
- You can start the computer from the Norton SystemWorks 3.x CD, but this is not recommended.
