The Norton Utilities for Macintosh 8.0 and Norton SystemWorks for Macintosh 3.0 CDs will not boot Macintosh computers that were released between July 2003 and November 2004 and which ship with Mac OS X 10.2.7 or later. Symantec has released Norton Utilities for Macintosh 8.0.2 or Norton SystemWorks for Macintosh 3.0.1 CDs that will boot Macintosh computers that were released between July 2003 and November 2004, including computers that ship with Mac OS X 10.3.x, code-named Panther.

The Norton Utilities 8.0 and Norton SystemWorks 3.0 CDs cannot boot any of the following models, which were released between July 2003 and November 2004. These computers require the latest Norton Utilities 8.0.2 CD or Norton SystemWorks 3.0.1 CD.

For information on how to order the Norton Utilities 8.0.2 or Norton SystemWorks 3.0.1 CD, see the section "How to order a replacement CD," which appears later in this document.

Some CDs don't need to be bootable

The Norton Internet Security for Macintosh 3.0.x, Norton Personal Firewall for Macintosh 3.0.x and Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 9.0.x are not bootable CDs and do not boot any model Macintosh. They do not require that you boot from a CD to run them. Just install the current version in Mac OS X, and then keep them current by running LiveUpdate.

If you have one of the Macintosh models listed above, then you need a replacement CD.
