What's new in Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0.x after running LiveUpdate
Situation:
You updated Norton Utilities for Macintosh (NUM) 7.0 to version 7.0.2. You want to know what has been changed.
Solution:
This information is also in the Norton Utilities Read Me document located in the Read Me Files folder after updating Norton Utilities.
Notes:
- To update to the latest version of Norton Utilities for Macintosh, run LiveUpdate.
- If you can start up from your Symantec Macintosh product CD, there is no need for a replacement disk.
- The version of Norton Utilities used when booted from the CD is compatible with Mac OS X v10.1 - v10.2.x.
Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0.3 was released in December 2002
What has changed in NUM 7.0.3:
- Provides compatibility with Mac OS X v10.2.2 and 10.2.3.
Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0.2 was released in September 2002
What has changed in NUM 7.0.2:
- Provides compatibility with Mac OS X v10.2 and v10.2.1, code named Jaguar.
What has changed on the NUM 7.0.2 CD:
Note: The Norton Utilities CD contains two installers, Norton Utilities 7.0.1 for Mac OS X 10.1 and Norton Utilities 6.0.4 for OS 8.1 through 9.2.2. When using Norton Utilities for Macintosh while booted from the CD, you are using NUM 6.0.4. This is because while booted from the CD, you are in Mac OS 9.2.2, and not Mac OS X. NUM 6.0.4 has been improved for Mac OS X.
Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0.1 was released in July 2002
What has changed in NUM 7.0.1:
- Speed Disk: Defragments files on Mac OS X boot drives and optimizes non-boot drives from within Mac OS X.
Note: The Norton Utilities main window now contains a tool button for Speed Disk. Speed Disk does not appear on the Utilities menu.
- New Speed Disk profiles for OS 9/X, OS X, Mac OS X Developer, and for the iPod.
- Speed Disk Profile Editor: Used to create and edit Speed Disk profiles in Mac OS X.
- Help and documentation added for Speed Disk for Mac OS X.
- UnErase: The maximum size of a recoverable file has been increased to 2 gigabytes.
- Norton Utilities Compatibility Check has been updated for Mac OS 10.1.5.
