How to use LiveUpdate in Symantec products for Macintosh

NOTE Notes

If you use a Symantec product for the PC, read How to run LiveUpdate instead of this document.

If you need to know to manually download virus definitions or product updates, read Where to download virus definitions and product updates for your Symantec Macintosh products.

Before you start, connect to the Internet. After you are connected, expand the section for your version of Mac OS.

I use Mac OS X
1
Before you begin, you must be in the Finder. Click the desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock to be in the Finder.
2
On the menu bar, click Go > Applications
3
Open the Norton Solutions folder or the Symantec Solutions folder, depending on your product version.
4
Double-click LiveUpdate.
You may also start LiveUpdate through any Symantec Macintosh software that is installed.
5
Click Update Everything Now.
Additional details about "Customize this Update Session" are in the Reference Guide on the product CD.
6
In the Authenticate window, type your Administrator password, and then click OK.
In Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 9.0.x or later, the Authenticate window does not appear when you update virus definitions.
7
After LiveUpdate finishes the update, the LiveUpdate summary window appears. You may now quit LiveUpdate.
8
Run LiveUpdate again to ensure that you have all available updates.
