Where to download virus definitions and product updates for your Symantec Macintosh products

Run LiveUpdate to obtain virus definitions and program updates

The easiest way to receive virus definitions and program updates is by running LiveUpdate.
To learn how to use LiveUpdate, read How to use LiveUpdate in Symantec Macintosh products.

If you prefer to download virus definitions and program updates manually, read the following sections.

Virus definitions

You can download virus definitions from the Symantec Web site or the Symantec FTP site.

Note
Definitions for current versions of Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh can be found at these sites. Be sure to download the correct definitions for your version of Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh because the definition files are not cross-compatible.

If you have access to the Internet only through a PC, you can download the definitions in .hqx format to your PC and copy them onto removable media that can be used with your Macintosh.

Program updates

Program updates can be found on the Symantec Downloads page. Under the Product Updates section, select the product that you need to update .

Note Program updates for Symantec Macintosh Mac OS X products are available through LiveUpdate only.
