How to determine if your Symantec Macintosh product is compatible with your Macintosh computer

 

Mac OS compatibility

To find out what Symantec products for Macintosh can be installed on your computer, first find your Mac OS version.

Problems restarting the computer from a Symantec product CD

If you have a new Macintosh computer and cannot restart the computer using the Norton Utilities 8.0 or Norton SystemWorks 3.0 CD, you may need an updated CD.

Note that Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security for Macintosh do not require that you start the computer from the CD to install the program or scan for viruses.

Symantec does not support restarting the computer with the Norton Utilities 8.0.x or Norton SystemWorks 3.0.x CD on the following PowerBook configurations:

If you use a PowerBook with a third-party CD drive, use the original CD drive that came with your PowerBook to boot from a Symantec product CD.
