Error: "Error 1335: The cabinet file '[2]' required for this installation is corrupt . . . " during Norton SystemWorks installation

Situation:
When you install Norton SystemWorks, you see the following error message:
- "Error 1335: The cabinet file '[2]' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used . . . "

You may also see one of the following error messages:
- "The Norton SystemWorks installation failed due to a critical error. . . "
- "Error 1335 The cabinet file cabs.m18 required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD ROM, or a problem with this package."

Solution:
This problem is often caused when the Norton SystemWorks CD is scratched or dirty. To test this possibility, remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive and gently wipe the surface of the disk (from the center to the outside edge) with a clean cloth. After you clean the disk in this way, copy the installation files from the Norton SystemWorks CD to the hard drive and try to install the program from there.

To install Norton SystemWorks from the hard drive, read the document Installing Norton SystemWorks from the hard drive.

If you still see the same error message when you install Norton SystemWorks from the hard drive, then go on to the next section.

To reinstall the Microsoft Installer
If this problem still exists when you install Norton SystemWorks from the hard drive, then the Microsoft Installer (MSI) files may be corrupted. To solve the problem, reinstall the Microsoft Installer, and then install Norton SystemWorks. For details about reinstalling the Microsoft Installer, read Reinstalling the Microsoft Windows Installer.
