Disabling the Norton Protected Recycle Bin


If you remove the Norton Protected Recycle Bin, you purge all of the backed up data that Norton UnErase monitored.

  Select your version of Windows
I use Windows 98/Me

On the Windows desktop, right-click the Recycle Bin icon, and then click Properties.

On the Global tab, click Use One Setting for All Drives.

On the Recycle Bin tab, click Standard Recycle Bin.

In the Title field, type the following text:

Recycle Bin

On the Norton Protection tab, click Remove Norton Protection.

Click Empty Protected Files.

Click OK, and then click OK again.
I use Windows 2000/XP

On the Windows desktop, right-click the Recycle Bin icon, and then click Properties.

On the Global tab, click Use One Setting for All Drives.

On the Recycle Bin tab, click Standard Recycle Bin.

In the Title field, type the following text:

Recycle Bin

On the Norton Protection tab, select a drive, and then uncheck Enable Protection.

Repeat this step for each drive.

Select Also Empty Protected Files.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

Restart the computer.
