Error: "Cannot allocate memory" while running CheckIt Diagnostics

Situation:
While running the Memory Test in CheckIt Diagnostics, you see the message "Cannot allocate memory." You may also see the message "Failed to test."

Solution:
In reported cases, this problem can happen when Memory Test was run on computers with more than 1 GB of installed memory (RAM). This problem was fixed by a recent patch.

To download and install a patch to fix this problem

  1. Click the following link to download a patch file from the Symantec FTP site:

    CheckIt_7.1.0.83_TO_7.1.1.5_1190G_Patch_English.exe

  2. In the File Download window, click Save.
  3. Change the location in the Save in field to Desktop, and then click Save.
  4. When the download completes, if the dialog box does not close automatically, then click Close.
  5. On the Windows Desktop, double-click CheckIt_7.1.0.83_TO_7.1.1.5_1190G_Patch_English.exe.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the patch, and reboot if prompted.
