What is Identity Safe?

Identity Safe secures your personal information and protects your online identity. You can store your web login credentials in Identity Safe and create one login for Identity Safe to manage the saved login credentials. It provides additional security by providing a secure storage for username, passwords and other personal infomation such as addresses and credit cards for online transactions.

How do I set up Identity Safe for the first time after installing Norton Internet Security 2008?

 How do I save passwords in Identity Safe?

Once you have logged on to Identity Safe, all web-based logins are monitored and you will be presented with an option to save the login credentials in Identity Safe when you attempt to login to a Web page. Once the login information is saved in Identity Safe, the next time you log on to the same Web site, Identity Safe will fill the information automatically for you, so that you don’t have to fill in the information again.

NOTE Note Identity Safe in Norton Internet Security does not monitor application logins like InfoVault does in Norton Confidential.

How do I save multiple passwords for the same Web site?

You can save multiple logins for a Web site using Identity Safe. When you launch a Web site for which multiple logins have been saved, Identity Safe prompts you to choose the account that needs to be filled automatically.

How do I backup or restore my Identity Safe data?

You will be able to backup the Identity Safe data in case you need to uninstall and reinstall Norton Internet Security 2008. Once you have reinstalled Norton Internet Security 2008, you can restore the backed up Identity Safe data.

What if I forget my Identity Safe password?

The Identity Safe password can be reset through Norton Internet Security 2008 user interface. If you enter an incorrect Identity Safe password three times, then you will be presented an option to reset the password. If the Identity Safe password is reset, all login information that was saved will be erased and Identity Safe will revert to a fresh install configuration.

How do I use the Card feature to fill forms?

You can store personal information in Identity Cards that can be used to fill Web forms. Multiple identity Cards can be created to suit different information so that you can choose what type of information needs to be entered while using the Auto-fill feature.

What if I don't want Identity Safe to fill a page automatically?

Password security automatically fills in your log-ins on those Web pages for which you have saved the log-in. There may be particular log-ins that you do not want to have filled automatically. You can specify these exceptions by listing the associated Web page as an Auto-fill exclusion. How do I reset my preferences for Auto-fill?

What to do if Norton Internet Security Identity Safe does not type your password or form information?

Occasionally, Identity Safe may not fill in a form completely or accurately.
