Situation:
After installing Norton Internet Security, you see the error message "A problem has been detected and windows will be shut down to prevent damage to your computer.... Stop: 0x00000008e...<register dumps>."

You may also see the error message "Stop" c0000262 Driver entry point not found the \system root system32\drivers\ symids.sys device driver could not find ordinal 27 in driver symtdi.sys"

Solution:
Symantec is aware of this problem, and there is no solution at this time. We will continue to track this problem, and this document will be updated if new information becomes available or if a solution is found.

This problem has been reported on Dell Dimension 4100 or 8100 PCs running Windows 2000 Professional, particularly those shipped in Japan and may be limited only to these platforms.
