Responding to Private or Confidential Information Alerts
- The "Private Information Alert" appears when Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall detects outbound information that you previously identified as confidential, such as credit card numbers or phone numbers.
- If you choose Permit, the communication will send private information from your computer to another computer, which is usually a Web site.

How to respond to Private or Confidential Information Alerts |
|
|
-
- If you choose Permit, the confidential information is sent to the Web site or application that requested it. For instance, if you are filling out a Web form for purchasing a product, you may want that Web site to have the confidential information. In that case, you would choose Permit.
- If you choose "Block (Recommended)," then Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall sends the communication, but without the confidential information. The confidential information is replaced with tilde (~) or asterisk (*) symbols.
