Sometimes a security risk prevents you from connecting to the Internet. To find out if your computer is risk-free, update the virus definitions and run a full system scan.

Download the latest virus definitions on a computer that can connect to the Internet |

- Go to a computer that can connect to the Internet.
|

- Download the current virus definitions. DOWNLOAD
|
- 3
- Click the file that is listed under Filename.
- The file name starts with the year and looks similar to the following:
- 20060413-007-i32.exe

- In the Save As dialog box, save the file to the desktop.

- Copy the saved virus definitions file to removable media, such as a CD or a removable USB drive.

Update the virus definitions on the computer that cannot connect to the Internet |

- Insert the CD, USB drive, or other removable media that you used in STEP 1 into the computer that cannot connect to the Internet.

- Copy the virus definitions file that you saved in STEP 1 from the removable media to the desktop.

- Double-click the virus definitions file that you copied to the desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Run a full system scan |

- Start Norton Internet Security.
|

- In the left pane, click Norton AntiVirus.
|

- In the right pane, click Full System Scan.
|
- 4
- Click Scan Now.
- If a security risk is found, follow the steps in the Repair Wizard to fix it.

Test your Internet connection |

- Start Internet Explorer
|
- 2
- Try to go to any Internet page.
If you can connect to the Internet, you have fixed your Internet connection problem.
