Allowing access to specific Web sites or newsgroups blocked through Parental Control or Productivity Control

Select an action to perform

Turn off Parental Control

Start Norton Internet Security.

In the Norton Internet Security Window, in the right pane, double-click Parental Control.

In the Parental Control dialog box, uncheck Turn on Parental Control.

Click OK.
Allow access to specific Web sites

NOTE Note You must be logged on as a Supervisor or an Adult user. Adult users can only change their own account.
If you use Norton Internet Security Professional 2004, Parental Control refers to Productivity Control. An Adult user refers to a Standard User.

Start Norton Internet Security.

In the Norton Internet Security Window, in the right pane, double-click Parental Control.

In the Parental Control dialog box, use the Parental Control settings drop-down list to select the account that you want to change.

Click Sites.

Use the section Web site categories to block to allow access to Web sites. 
  • To allow access to all sites in a category, uncheck the box for that category and click OK.
  • To allow access to a specific site in a category, click Exceptions and go to Line 6.

In the Exceptions dialog box, click Add.

In the Add Web site to the Exception List dialog box, type the URL of  the Web site that you want to unblock.

Click OK.

Repeat lines 6, 7, and 8 for each Web site that you want to add to the exceptions list.

When you have finished adding sites, click OK.
Allow access to specific newsgroups

NOTE Note

You must be logged on as a Supervisor or an Adult user. Adult users can only change their own account.
If you use Norton Internet Security Professional 2004, Parental Control refers to Productivity Control. An Adult user refers to a Standard User.

In the Norton Internet Security Window, in the right pane, double-click Parental Control.

In the Parental Control dialog box, use the Parental Control settings drop-down list to select the account that you want to change.

Click Newsgroups.

In the Newsgroups dialog box, click Specify Blocked Newsgroups.

Click Exceptions.

In the Newsgroup Blocked List Exceptions dialog box, click Add.

In the Add Newsgroup to Exception List dialog box, type the complete name of the newsgroup that you want to unblock.

Click OK.

Repeat lines 7, 8, and 9 for each Newsgroup that you want to add to the exceptions list.

When you have finished adding newsgroups, click OK.
