Situation:
You installed Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) 2003, and you want to know what the differences are between the Security Center and Security Monitor.
Solution:
Security Center
The Security Center is the main User Interface (UI) for Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall 2003. From this screen you have access to all features of NIS or NPF 2003.
The Security Center UI is similar in Windows 98, Me, 2000, and XP (Home and Professional). However, the UI in Windows 98 and Me includes a Rescue button along the top. The Rescue feature is a part of Norton AntiVirus and only appears with Norton Internet Security 2003 running on Windows 98 and Me. This feature does not appear in Norton Personal Firewall 2003 or the Windows 2000 or XP (Home or Professional) operating systems. An example of the NIS and NPF 2003 Security Center UI follows for all supported operating systems.

Security Monitor
The Security Monitor collects the most-used NIS or NPF tools into a compact window.
When you are online, place the Security Monitor window in an unused part of your screen. This lets you monitor your connection, view information about security events, and personalize your protection without using a lot of space on your screen.
NOTE: To toggle between the Security Center and Security Monitor screens, click the Security Center or Security Monitor button on the UI.
To perform a different task in Security Monitor, click Select a Task, and then select the task you want. The following options are available from Select a Task:
