Disabling email scanning in Norton Internet Security

There are many ways for Norton Internet Security to scan your email. To prevent Norton Internet Security from scanning email entirely, complete the steps in the section that applies to your version of Norton Internet Security.   Disable email scanning in Norton Internet Security 2005 or later
 
To disable email scanning, perform all of the following procedures in the order in which they appear.
To disable email scanning in Norton AntiVirus
1
Open Norton Internet Security.

On the Options menu, click Norton AntiVirus.

In the Norton AntiVirus Options window under Internet, click Email.

Under What to scan, uncheck Scan incoming Email (recommended).

Under What to scan, uncheck Scan outgoing Email (recommended).

Click OK.
To disable confidential information email scanning
1
On the Options menu, click Norton Internet Security.
2
On the Email tab, under Email scanning, uncheck Tray icon.
3
Under Email scanning, uncheck Progress indicator.

Click OK.
To disable spam filter training in Norton AntiSpam
1
On the Options menu, click Norton AntiSpam.
2
On the left side of the window, under Email, click Filtering.

Uncheck Use outgoing email to improve Norton AntiSpam filtering (recommended).

Click OK.
            
  Disable email scanning in Norton Internet Security 2004 or earlier
To disable email scanning, perform all of the following procedures in the order in which they appear.
To disable email scanning in Norton AntiVirus
1
Open Norton Internet Security.

On the Options menu, click Norton AntiVirus.

In the Norton AntiVirus Options window under Internet, click Email.

Under What to scan, uncheck Scan incoming Email (recommended).

Under What to scan, uncheck Scan outgoing Email (recommended).

Click OK.
To disable confidential information email scanning

On the Options menu, click Norton Internet Security.

On the Email tab, under Email scanning, uncheck Tray icon.

Under Email scanning, uncheck Progress indicator.

Click OK.
To disable spam filter training in Norton AntiSpam

On the Options menu, click Norton Internet Security.

On the Email tab, under Spam Filter, uncheck Use outgoing email to train Spam Engine.
