Cannot send email with Norton AntiVirus email scanning enabled

Update your Norton product

Many problems have been fixed in the latest product update. If you have Norton AntiVirus 2006 on Windows XP and you have a valid subscription, then you are eligible for the product update. Click the download button to update your Norton program. DOWNLOAD

If the problem persists, go to next step.

STEP 3
Choose your Email program

I use Microsoft Outlook XP/2000

Start Microsoft Outlook.

On the Tools menu, click Options.

On the Mail Delivery/Mail Setup tab, uncheck Hang up when finished sending, receiving, or updating.

Click OK.

Exit all programs and restart the computer.

Resend email.

What if this didn't work?

I use Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0/5.0

Start Outlook Express.

On the Tools menu, click Options.

On the Connection tab, uncheck Hang up after sending and receiving.
