- 1
- Close all programs before you begin the installation. If programs are open, then you will be prompted to close them.
|
- 2
- Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
-
- If the Installation wizard appears, then proceed to the next step.
- If the Installation program does not appear, then follow these steps: Start Windows Explorer. Browse to and select the icon that represents the CD-ROM drive. In the right pane, double-click Setup.exe (Some computers may just display Setup.)
|
- 3
- Click Install Norton AntiVirus 2003 or Install Norton AntiVirus 2003 Professional Edition. The Microsoft Installer will start the installation. (This may take a few moments. You may be prompted to restart the computer. If this happens, do so, and then start the installation again.)
|
- 4
- The "Welcome" dialog box appears. Please read it. The dialog boxes have important information about your software. Click Next to continue.

- Norton AntiVirus 2003 cannot migrate the options from Norton AntiVirus 2000/2001, so that choice will not appear. Instead, the following dialog box displays if you have a previous version of Norton AntiVirus 2000 or 2001 installed. Either cancel the installation and uninstall the previous version of Norton AntiVirus from Add/Remove programs in the Windows Control Panel, or click Next to continue with the installation.
|
- 6
- The Destination Folder dialog box appears. By default, Norton AntiVirus is installed to C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus. In most cases, you should not change this. However, if you prefer to install to a different location, then click Browse, and then select the location where you want to install the program. If you do this, make a note of the location for future reference. Click Next.
|
- 7
- This dialog box displays a summary of where Norton AntiVirus is going to install its files. Make a note of this for future reference. (If you want to change the locations, then click Back to make any necessary changes.) Click Next to continue.
|
- 8
- The installation of files begins. Watch the dialog box for any messages. This process may take several minutes to complete.
|
- 9
- The Readme file displays. This file contains important information about the enhancements and any known problems. We suggest that you review this in case any of the information applies to your situation. Click Next to continue.
|
- 10
- The final installation dialog box appears.
|
- 11
- Remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive.
