- You cannot install or run Symantec products.
- You get an email message that shows that your computer is infected with the W32.Klez virus.
- You see "out of memory" error messages.
- Your computer stops responding during virus scans.
- Your Internet connection is much slower than usual.
- Your firewall software detects that "Wink???.exe" is accessing the Internet.
- You see error messages that show that your computer is low on disk space.
- You see the message "Nmain caused an error in Nmain.exe."
- You see the message "Nmain caused an invalid page fault in Nmain.exe."
Solution:
These symptoms can occur on computers that are infected with certain viruses or worms. To perform a quick, online check for the most common threats, connect to the Internet and then run the AutoFix Tool. (This usually takes no more than a minute on a dial-up connection and a few seconds on a fast connection.) If no common threat is found, go to the Symantec Security Check Web site to do a complete online scan of your computer.
If a threat is found when running Security Check, click the link that you see in the message, and follow the steps for that specific threat. If there is no link to click, then search for the threat name on the Symantec Security Response online database and follow the steps.
If no threat is found, then the problems with your Symantec software are not caused by an infection. Go to the Symantec Technical Support Web site for contact information and online help with finding and fixing the problem.
