Situation:
You installed Norton AntiVirus (NAV) 2002 or 2003. You are using Microsoft Outlook 2002 with Service Pack 2 and Microsoft Word 2002 is set as the text editor for Outlook. When you try to open an email attachment, you see the error message "This object is corrupt or is no longer available."
This can also happen when opening an Excel spreadsheet that was inserted into a Word document or when opening or editing an embedded Word picture object.
Solution:
For NAV 2002:
This problem has been fixed in the latest program update. To install the update, run LiveUpdate, download the program update, and then restart the computer when prompted. After restarting the computer, run LiveUpdate until you see the message "Thank you for using LiveUpdate. All of the Symantec products and components installed on your computer are currently up-to-date."
For NAV 2003:
This problem was fixed by the latest Symantec Common Client program update. To install the update, start NAV, run LiveUpdate, download all available updates, including the Symantec Common Client Update, and then restart the computer when prompted.
